A toddler gaining his independence can be a rewarding and sometimes stressful time. Transitioning to underwear can be one of those trying times however Pampers® is giving toddlers more confidence with Pampers® Easy Ups™ Training Underwear.

Training underwear was a new term for me but after seeing the new Pampers® Easy Ups™ I understand. Easy Ups™ look fit and feel like underwear with their 360 degree stretchy waistband. Don't worry, Easy Ups™ still provide the leak protection you would except from Pampers®.

Transitioning into underwear is a big deal for every toddler. While the end results are rewarding, the process can be a challenge. At our recent Pampers® Underwear Training Party we discussed a few tips from the experts to help with your underwear training journey.

Is your child ready? Children are ready at different ages so how will you know if your child is ready? Pampers® experts suggest that you look for the following signs:
  • The ability to pull and a down their own pants.
  • Your child showing interest in the bathroom and what people do in there.
  • If your child sits on a potty.
  • If your child knows when their diaper is wet or soiled.
  • If your child is showing independence by saying "no" or doing things their own way.
  • If your child responds to praise and wants to please you.

If you think your child is ready then one beneficial thing you can do is be encouraging, consistent and provide motivation. Here a few ideas:

Post potty treats are an effective reward system. Here we are decorating Potty Treat jars. To be consistent the toddler only gets a treat when they sit on the potty and the reward should be given every time.

Another reward is a training chart. After your toddler sits on the potty they get to put a sticker on the chart! It shows their progress and a toddler putting their own sticker on is exciting! Make your own or print this on HERE.

A parent's praise is encouraging for a toddler. So clapping after each time a child goes potty is a simple and easy reward. At our party we put stuffed animals on the potty seat and clapped for them. The children loved it!

There may be some bumps along the way. Just remember to be consistent, remain positive and keep moving forward. Remember this is your child's accomplishment and not yours. Guide them, praise them and reward them; before you know it you'll be diaper free.
