Imagine Motion Dance Brings Mobile Dance Classes to York County

By Sarah Frane Macaroni Kid May 21, 2026

A young York County entrepreneur is quickly making an impact in early childhood education by bringing dance directly into the classroom.

Alex Fellman, founder of Imagine Motion Dance, launched her business in June 2025 after relocating to the York area from Maryland. In less than a year, her program has grown to partner with more than 15 schools and organizations throughout York County and surrounding areas, reaching approximately 300 children under the age of five each week through in-school enrichment classes.

Imagine Motion Dance specializes in in-school enrichment classes, allowing preschoolers to experience structured dance education during their regular school day. The program is designed to be both accessible and developmentally appropriate, especially for families who may not be able to attend after-school activities.

A Foundation of Expertise and Safety

Fellman brings extensive experience to her work as an instructor, choreographer, and coach. She began dancing at just two years old and later became a competitive dancer based in Montgomery County, Maryland. With more than nine years of teaching experience, she is an AcrobaticArts certified instructor and has been certified in Safety and Wellness through Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD).

She has received multiple awards for her choreography and creative direction as a competitive dance coach, and her work has been featured in a live performance with Dionne Warwick at a Best Friends Foundation event in Washington, D.C. Fellman has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, tap, and acrobatic dance, and incorporates age-appropriate hip-hop elements into her classes.

“I wanted to make dance something every child could experience,” Fellman said. “Not every family can get to a studio in the evenings, so bringing classes into schools creates an opportunity for kids to learn and grow in a familiar environment.”

A Purposeful Curriculum

Fellman’s classes blend creative movement with foundational ballet, jazz, and hip-hop techniques, all guided by a curriculum she has developed over several years of teaching throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and now Pennsylvania. She emphasizes age-appropriate music, movement, and structure as a core part of her teaching philosophy.

“That’s one of my biggest priorities,” she said. “Everything we do is intentional and appropriate for their age, because that’s what truly supports healthy development and confidence.”

Each class incorporates music, coordination exercises, choreography, and interactive props such as scarves, ribbons, and other movement tools designed to keep young dancers engaged while building foundational skills.

Inside the Program: Engaging Dance Classes

Imagine Motion Dance delivers an exciting, productive atmosphere where every child gets to feel like a star. The foundational classes offered by the program include:

  • Intro to Dance (Preschool Enrichment): Tailored for weekly 30-minute school sessions, this class features small groups of 10 to 15 students. Children learn age-friendly dance moves and choreography while exploring movement through creative choices and play. The focus centers heavily on coordination, safety, musicality, and building lifelong confidence.
  • Pop-Star Jazz & Hip-Hop: A beginner-friendly class introducing basic moves and energetic techniques. Dancers work their way up to a fun, original routine, learning how to move with style, energy, and imagination.
  • Community Recreation Classes: Through thriving community partnerships like Red Lion Recreation and Springettsbury Township Recreation, the program expands its reach to older age groups. Offerings include specialized Pre-Ballet/Jazz for ages 3–4, Ballet/Jazz Combo classes for ages 5–7, and specialized Beginner Ballet and Beginner Jazz classes designed to teach core technique, posture, and rhythm to youth ages 8–12.

Bring the Party Home: Dynamic Birthday Options

Beyond the classroom, Imagine Motion Dance has expanded into private events, offering completely mobile, stress-free, on-site birthday party experiences. Because Imagine Motion functions as an on-site service provider rather than a brick-and-mortar studio, "Miss Alex" brings the entire party experience directly to your home, backyard, or rented community space (requiring just a safe, flat 15' x 15' space, an outlet, and a minimum age of 3).

Parties are optimized for up to 15 attendees and feature a professional dance instructor who serves as the personal hostess. No prior dance experience is required for guests to have an absolute blast. Parents can customize the celebration length (ranging from 30 to 90 minutes) and select from three popular themes:

  1. Pop-Star: Perfect for children who love high-energy music and want to learn cool routines.
  2. Ballet/Princess: Ideal for the little dancer looking for a magical, graceful celebration.
  3. Custom Theme: Parents can pitch their child’s favorite characters, shows, or concepts to build a fully personalized experience.

To take the party to the next level, keeping the kids entirely engaged, Imagine Motion supplies a professional speaker, fun party lighting, and the option to add Keepsake Performance Accessories—including vibrant neon and LED light-up glasses, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and inflatable props that partygoers can take home.

Expanding Footprints and Community Impact

While the program’s core focus is early childhood education, Fellman also works with school-age children and teenagers through summer camp enrichment classes, recreation center programs, and specialized training. She currently serves as a cross-training coach for the YWCA York synchronized swim team, using acrobatic dance techniques to help athletes build strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

Since launching the business, Fellman has continued to expand her reach. Following a highly successful partnership with Red Lion Recreation in November, she is actively preparing to launch a new partnership with Springettsbury Township Recreation this summer.

Through convenience, professional expertise, and an unwavering commitment to safe, age-appropriate fun, Imagine Motion Dance is shaping up to be a staple of youth enrichment across York County for years to come.
