With youth and adult improv classes, drop-in dance workshops and summer camps designed to inspire young creatives, the Appell Center offers ample education opportunities for the whole family. Monday Night Improv Classes with Chris Myers (Ages 8 - Adult)
Classes April 13 - May 18
Ready to think fast and laugh louder? Enjoy high-energy weekly improv classes taught by local actress and seasoned improv performer Chris Myers. Having worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, Chris helps students trust their instincts, support fellow performers and stay present in the moment, all in a low-pressure, encouraging environment.
The five-week course culminates in a final performance on the Capitol Theatre stage open to the public!
6–7 PM: Ages 8–12
7–8 PM: Ages 13–18
8–10 PM: Ages 18+
Paid registration required. Scholarship funds available.
Monday Night Acting Class (Ages 8 - 18)
Classes April 13 - May 18
Take the stage and bring a character to life! These weekly interactive acting classes invite young performers to explore character development, scene work and stage presence in a supportive setting. Students refine their storytelling skills, movement and audience connection while building the confidence that comes from rehearsal and stage performance.
The five-week course culminates in a final performance on the Capitol Theatre stage open to the public!

Dance Lab in The Studio
Every Third Friday of the Month
Skip the typical Friday night routine and step onto the dance floor. Whether it’s date night with your partner or a long-overdue girls’ night out, Dance Lab brings energy and a little something unexpected to your evening… no dance experience is required.
Wedding Warriors (March 20)
Round up your crew and train to become the life of the party as you master favorite reception dances like the Wobble, Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide and so much more.
Swing Dancing (April 17)
Join Randi Sitler for an upbeat introduction to swing dance and discover how quickly a few simple steps can turn into spins, smiles and a whole lot of fun on the dance floor.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Plan Ahead for Summer
Summer camp at the Appell Center turns imagination in action. From creative play and improv intensives to sound effects workshops and a jazz band for budding musicians, there will be plenty of ways for kids to explore their artistic talents while school is out.
