In an exciting collaboration, the renowned Old Fire Farts of York County are teaming up with the esteemed Firefighters Association of York County for a one-of-a-kind event on Saturday, September 27, 2025. This year, the traditional parade will be replaced by a spectacular muster, promising a day filled with fire trucks, food trucks, entertainment, and a vibrant display of fire apparatus both old and new. The event will kick off at 10:00 AM at the Southern Area Fire and Emergency Rescue's Yorkana Fire Station, located at 5410 Mount Pisgah Road, Yorkana, PA 17406. Admission is free, and the public is warmly welcomed to partake in the festivities.
The concept of a fire apparatus muster in the York area was born from the visionary minds of the "Old Fire Farts." This gathering allows the community to witness a diverse array of fire apparatus up close, with opportunities for independent judging and engaging contests like pumping challenges to showcase the skills of rig operators. Each year, the muster highlights a specific apparatus manufacturer, honoring their contributions to the firefighting industry. Past features have included iconic names like Ahrens-Fox, American LaFrance, Seagrave, and more, adding a touch of nostalgia and reverence to the event.
Beyond the impressive display of fire trucks, the day is packed with a plethora of activities to entertain attendees of all ages. From pumping contests and a flea market offering fire service collectibles to a food truck food court and live music, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Kids can have a blast at the Kids Korner, while firefighters can test their skills at the thrilling Firefighter Skills Challenge. Each year also brings unique additions to the muster, such as operating a replica hand pumper from the 1800s, traditional bagpipe performances by the Kiltie Band of York, and captivating displays like the model fire truck showcase. The event also pays homage to the firefighting legacy with ceremonies like the dedication of a historic hook and ladder truck.
Don't miss out on this unforgettable celebration of firefighting heritage and community spirit! Admission is FREE, so bring your family and friends to experience the magic of this longstanding tradition.
