With the holidays approaching, many children are gearing up to build snowmen, decorate Christmas trees, and open all kinds of Christmas presents. While this is the reality for most children, there are some children who are not so lucky, and could use a little bit of Christmas joy as they face hospitalization for childhood cancer.
Last Christmas, 7 year old Dakota Dixon made it his mission to spread joy and holiday cheer to other children like him, battling cancer. While in the hospital, Dakota was thankful to receive many gifts and blessings that always brightened his day. Although Dakota’s favorite Christmas character was the Grinch, his number one wish was to give back and help make the journey just a little bit easier for other kids in his position.
While Dakota isn’t physically here to stuff the stockings himself, his parents and family choose to honor his life and legacy by honoring his wish. This Christmas season, Dakota’s Army, his foundation, plan to stuff dozens of stockings to distribute to children in need of some holiday cheer. These stockings will be distributed to both Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and to the Ronald McDonald House. In order to help fulfill Dakota’s wish, Dakota’s Army is looking to collect donations from the community who has supported Dakota’s journey. Toys can be donated directly to Dakota’s mom, Alicia Dixon by November 30th. In addition, you can find our Amazon Registry or make cash donations online.
