Homeschool Days is ready for another year of learning in the museum!

Homeschool families love to learn at the museum! The History Center offers a unique opportunity for homeschooled students and their families to participate in thematic, hands-on STEAM experiences centered on the museum’s exhibits. Programs are designed for elementary school-age students but younger and older siblings are welcome to participate. Take a look at this years schedule below and be sure to register! 


Homeschool Days Schedule:

The Power of Wind
August 30, 11am – 12pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Explore the power behind wind and make a kite.

 

Native Americans in York
September 13, 11am – 12pm
Historical Society Museum
Learn more about the Native Americans who lived in York, explore some of their artifacts, and learn about wampum belts.

 

An Apple a Day
September 27, 11am – 12pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Discover York’s own variety of Apple and make a colorful apple craft.

 

I Dig Archaeology
October 11, 10 am – 11am
Colonial Complex
Learn about Archaeology during PA Archaeology month.

 

A Stitch in Time
October 25, 11am – 12pm
Historical Society Museum
Explore the art of quilting and create your own crazy quilt square.

 

America’s First Constitution
November 8, 10 am – 11am
Colonial Complex
Learn about America’s First Constitution and practice colonial penmanship.

 

Pumpin’ Iron
November 22, 11am – 12pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Discover the history behind York Barbell and make your own piece of fitness equipment.

 

Cut it out!
December 13, 11am – 12pm
Historical Society Museum
Learn more about Scherenschnitte traditional German paper cutting and make some festive decorations.


Homeschool Days take place at  the Agricultural and Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess Stree the 1st and 3rd Tuesday 11 am- 12 noon.

Pre-registration is preferred, walk-ins are welcome based on supplies available, 

The fee is $5/student and adults are free and must remain with their child during this activity. 

Participants are invited to explore the museum following the workshop when held at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum or the Historical Society Museum.
