York History Center Homeschool Days

Homeschool Days is ready for another year of learning in the museum!

Homeschool families love to learn at the museum! The History Center offers a unique opportunity for homeschooled students and their families to participate in thematic, hands-on STEAM experiences centered on the museum’s exhibits. Programs are designed for elementary school-age students but younger and older siblings are welcome to participate. Take a look at this years schedule below and be sure to register! 


Pass the Animal Cracker
January 24,  11 am – 12 pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Learn more about a favorite childhood treat and make some “dough”

Fun with Frakur
February 14,  11 am – 12 pm
Historical Society Museum
Explore the traditional German writing and folk art of Fraktur and paint your heart out

Brush up on Clean Teeth
February 28,  11 am – 12 pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Come and learn about York’s Dental history during Dental Health Month.

Homeschool Field Trip to the Fire Museum
March 10,  11 am – 12:30 pm
Fire Museum
Come explore the Fire Museum on a traditional school tour. $6/person.

Hot Potato!
March 15,  11 am – 12 pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Learn more about potatoes and some of York’s crunchy treats.

Egg-cellent Decorations
March 29,  11 am – 12 pm
Historical Society Museum
Come and explore the long history of egg decorating and paint your own decoration.

Get that Motor Runnin’!
April 12,  11 am – 12 pm
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
Learn more about some of York’s different motors and make your own type of motor.

Homeschool Field Trip to the Colonial Complex
April 14,  11 am – 12:30 pm
Colonial Complex
Come explore the Colonial Complex on a traditional school tour with some fun hands-on. $6/person.


Homeschool Days take place at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess Stree the 1st and 3rd Tuesday 11 am- 12 noon.

Pre-registration is preferred, walk-ins are welcome based on supplies available, 

The fee is $5/student and adults are free and must remain with their child during this activity. 

Participants are invited to explore the museum following the workshop when held at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum or the Historical Society Museum.
