Spring Fun at Keystone Kidspace

By Keystone Kidspace February 26, 2026

At Keystone Kidspace, we’re passionate about sparking curiosity and fostering creativity through hands-on learning experiences that the whole family can enjoy all year long.

This month, we’re excited to bring you a lineup of engaging activities and special offers designed to make your celebrations even brighter!

Whether you’re searching for fun-filled activities to keep the kids entertained, educational workshops that inspire young minds, or the perfect gift that keeps on giving, Keystone Kidspace has something for everyone.

 Duct Tape Drive

Kids LOVE duct tape!

Duct tape makes any dream creation possible at Keystone Kidspace. With 22,000+ visitors last year, you might imagine that we go through A LOT of duct tape - over 500 rolls yearly in fact. That's why we're hosting our annual duct tape drive March 1-30. Duct tape is an essential for crafting, creating, and making at Keystone Kidspace, and we need YOU to help us reach our goal!

To donate a roll (or a dozen), you may drop off your donations during our weekend Open Play hours (Saturday 10am-5pm & Sunday 12-4pm) or during our weekday office hours (typically 9am-4pm). Not in the neighborhood but still want to help us reach our goal? You can purchase the roll(s) of your choice and get them delivered right to our door with our Amazon Wish List.

What happens if we reach our goal of 500 rolls o tape donated? We unlock tickets to The Big Bluey for Real Life Dance Mode Granny Party! What happens if we get more than that? We unlock special bonus activities at the party! (See event for more information and to get on the waitlist for when tickets are live.)

Thank you all so much for helping us with this annual drive & for supporting us year-round! Community is such an important part of the Keystone Kidspace experience.

Strawberry Science Workshop

Meet scientist, Sierra Miller, learn about her work as a bioinformaticist, and do a hands-on strawberry DNA isolation procedure.

What's a strawberry DNA isolation procedure?

We will start with a few strawberries. Then we will use common household supplies to isolate and extract DNA from the cells of the strawberries.

Finally, we will make observation notes about the appearance and texture of the DNA we collect.

Maybe you would like to be a scientist some day, too? You'll have a chance to ask questions and learn from someone who is passionate about STEM outreach to young people.

Date: Saturday, March 21

Tiime: 11am-12pm

Cost: $15

This is a drop off workshop for ages 8-12.

Rain Cloud in a Jar

Saturday, March 28, bring weather science to life with this mesmerizing, hands-on experiment!

In the Rain Cloud in a Jar activity, participants will create their own “cloud” and watch it rain right before their eyes.

Using simple materials, students explore how clouds form and how rain falls, making abstract weather concepts easy to understand and exciting to observe.

This colorful, interactive experiment sparks curiosity, encourages scientific thinking, and turns learning about the water cycle into a magical experience!

Activity available at intervals starting at 12pm and ending at 3pm and is included in Open Play admission.

The Big Bluey for Real Life Dance Mode Granny Party

Alright, imagine this: Keystone Kidspace flips the switch to full DANCE MODE and throws a Big Bluey For Real Life Dance Mode Granny Party—all powered by duct tape donations.

This whole glorious nonsense is your reward for helping us hit 500 rolls in our duct tape drive.  Hit that goal and the doors open to a two-hour, tail-wagging, bean-dropping, balloon-bopping celebration that feels like Bluey jumped off the screen and yelled, “LET’S DO THIS FOR REAL LIFE.” Kids will roll in and immediately become Grannies. We’re talking Granny glasses you make yourself, towels worn with pride, and a brand-new Granny name that absolutely must be shouted during introductions. Then it’s off to the races—literally—with a Granny Driving Course (yes, Cozy Coupes, yes, questionable parking), Don’t Drop the Beans challenges, Keepy Uppy arenas, surprise DANCE MODE interruptions, and hidden-object shenanigans that might crown someone the Queen with confetti, fanfare, and a cardboard throne.

Dollarbucks will be earned and spent. Duck cakes may appear. Featherwands will be hidden.

But wait—this party levels up. If the community powers us to 600 rolls, we unlock the legendary Stumpfest Salon: stump-based nail stickers, temporary tattoos, gems, and peak “yeah nah” energy. And if we somehow hit 700 rolls? That’s it. We go full fancy. Everyone gets Pavlova. Because nothing says “we did it” like a room full of kids eating Pavlova and adults quietly questioning their life choices.  Before we hit 500 rolls, you can pop yourself onto the waitlist and sit tight like a very patient Granny.

Once we cross that magic number, tickets unlock and you can join the fun for $15 per personor bring 100 yards of duct tape per person to donate at the door.

Either way, you’re officially helping power the party—dollarbucks optional, enthusiasm required.

Date: Sunday, April 12
Time: 4:30-6:30pm
