13 Tips To Ensure A Safe Halloween

For York County children, Halloween is one of the best nights of the year. But trick-or-treating can be dangerous if kids and parents aren’t careful. Take a look at and review our 13 Safe Halloween tips with your children to ensure your family has a  fun and safe Halloween! 


S Swords and other costume accessories should be short, soft, and flexible.

Always walk in groups and with a trusted adult.

F Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.

Examine all treats for tampering before eating them.


Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating and always WALK  never  run from house to house.


Always test your make-up in case of an allergic reaction or skin irritation 


Look both ways before crossing the street, using crosswalks and sidwalks wherever possible.


Lower your risk of eye injury by not wearing  decorative contact lenses 


Only walk on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe.


Wear well-fitting masks, and costumes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls. 


Eat only store bought wrapped treats. 


Enter homes or accepting rides is NEVER a good idea. Only visit well-lit houses. and never accept rides from strangers.


Never walk near lit jack-o-lanterns,  candles, or luminaries. and be sure your costume is flame-resistant.
