August First Friday

EVERYONE is invited to attend Downtown York's monthly First Friday in Historically Edgy Downtown York on August 5, 2022, presented by WellSpan Health. First Friday is a celebration of Downtown York, PA shops, restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife hot spots. From 5-9pm, downtown shops and restaurants host special events, offer refreshments and promotions, and sponsor live entertainment. As you are enjoying the First Friday happenings with your family, share your photos on Instagram and Facebook, @downtownyorkpa, #ffyork. 

Entertainment : 

  • African American First Friday: 5pm-9pm.  SOHO District.  Live music & Entertainment, Dance Fitness with Toya, Basketball Open Court, Youth Dance Battle & Activities.
  • The Cantina: Scarlet Rose the Singer 7 Band, 7pm-9pm
  • Elks Lodge #213: Open to the public and nonmembers on First Fridays! Enjoy live music on the patio and Trivia with Lindalou inside.
  • Gift Horse Brewing Company: 7pm-10pm.  Live Music – Mike Sharp
  • Mudhook Brewing: Live music with Kurt, 7pm
  • Refillism: 5pm-9pm. Roller Skate Pit Stop, come by for some totally tubular 80s tunes. AND….who wants Penny Candy? At Refillism, get FREE Penny Candy with a min purchase of $25.
  • The Parliament Arts Organization: 7pm U Street Laughs Comedy Series.  Tickets $35. U Street Laughs is the hottest comedy series in Central PA! It’s a place for dates, friends, family or solo! Some the hottest comics in the country! We sprinkle in a torch of spoken word and live music performances as well. Come check out the vibe.
  • The York Emporium: 6pm-8pm. York Chess Club, open to all levels.


  • HIVE artspace: Mycotopia - The August Exhibit at HIVE artspace. FIRST FRIDAY FUN: Be the first to see the "Mycotopia" exhibit, enter a free drawing for a mushroom-themed gift basket chock full of artist-made and local goodies (thanks to a grant from Downtown Inc), get a Tarot reading from Soul Haus Tarot in the Hive Courtyard, win original art from Jim Hively’s Magical Art Machine - freshly stocked with mushroom-themed art, and of course Angel the tortoise will be here!
  • Kings Courtyard Artists' Collective: Stop by from 5-9 to meet our newest artist members Brad Maurer and Jamar Sweets, see artwork by our 20+ artists and makers, and Channeled Tarot Readings by artist member Liette Monic from 6-9pm.
  • Marketview Arts: Lindsey Lively: “Detectable Change" is on view through September 3, 2022, in Gallery Hall at Marketview Arts. The themes of this exhibition revolve around memory and perception, roles within the nuclear family, gender roles and stereotypes, the relationship between abstraction and representation, and the psychological impact of paint handling.
  • OMG Studios: Open from 5-9. We have hot hot hot August deals for you!!
  • Parliament Arts Organization: Opening of the two-week gallery showing of works by Claudia’s Artistry
  • PCA&D-Pennsylvania College of Art & Design: Join students of The Agency, Pennsylvania College of Art & Design’s in-house creative agency, for York First Friday in August! After a summerlong residency in York, interns of The Agency will celebrate design work created for five York-area non-profit organization clients. Learn more about The Agency’s work on behalf of The Well’s Food Pantry; Suicide Prevention of York’s “Make It Okay” mental health campaign; Rainbow Rose Center; Lawilowan American Indian Festival’s Muddy Run Powwow event; and the Teaching Museum for the Fiber Arts & Textiles, at

  • My Girlfriend's Wardrobe: 5pm-9pm.  Come check out the great selection of Fall pieces for your wardrobe.
  • The York Emporium: 3pm-6pm. Record dealers from throughout the region will be available for a vinal swap meet.


  • Aviano’s: Half Price Happy Hour 4-6pm, Open 12-9pm
  • The Cantina: Half Price Happy Hour 4-6pm, Open 12pm-11pm.
  • Central Market: Open late for First Fridays! 5pm-9pm
  • Gift Horse Brewing Company: 4pm-10pm,  Walk-O Taco Food Truck
  • York Taco Week: Kick off to York Taco Week.  Several Down Town Restaurants are participating in this week-long celebration of all things TACOS! 


Parking is plentiful in Downtown York. There are 1,260 garage parking spaces and 350 on-street parking meters in our downtown area, and parking couldn’t be any easier for First Friday in Downtown York.
