My daughter and I are theater lovers. We attend most Touring Broadway shows that come to our area and we've always dreamed of going to a Broadway show in New York City. But one day I thought, "Why is attending a Broadway show just a dream?" It is just a short drive from York, PA and it would be the perfect mommy-daughter day trip - so we headed to NYC to see one of the longest-running Broadway shows, WICKED, The Musical!
WICKED is the story of Oz from another perspective. It takes you through the story of Glinda the Good Witch and The Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy's house blew in. The compelling storyline is an incredible, thought-provoking journey about being different and standing up for what is right, no matter the personal costs. We loved the story, it is one that sticks with you, makes you forget everything you thought you knew about the land of Oz and makes you question, "who is the wicked one?". I enjoyed how WICKED was a conversation starter for my 9-year-old daughter and I about rumors, friendship, and how things are not always what they seem.
Previously I thought, "If Touring Broadway shows come to our area all the time, why travel to NYC?" And now I get it. Whether you're seeing a show on Broadway or a Touring Broadway performance, you can always expect top-notch performers with exceptional talent. But Touring Broadway shows cannot recreate the atmosphere. If you've ever been to the Gershwin Theatre to see WICKED you know exactly what I mean. As soon as you walk into the theatre you are transported to OZ. The stage, the ambiance, and the scenery are incredible, it's simply something they can't reproduce on a touring show. It's truly a must-see, must-do experience.
Now that we've been to a Broadway show, we will be back. Possibly to see WICKED again, it was incredible. To learn more about WICKED, The Musical on Broadway please CLICK HERE!
I was hosted by WICKED, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
