I Can Read! I Can Read! Make Reading Fun without Frustration!

By Jessica Newcomer, Publisher of Macaroni Kid York - www.york.macaronikid.com May 25, 2017

I remember when my daughter was learning to read. It was both a thrilling and frustrating time for both of us. She is a fast learner and quickly picked up on repetitious words but would get frustrated when she got stuck. I wanted to do everything possible to set her up for success and I did that by selecting engaging books that were specifically designed for her current level of reading and books that offered the perfect combination of both challenge and fun. That is why I turned to I Can Read! books that are designed for children who are learning to read.

When purchasing books for my daughter I found it difficult to determine which age and reading level the books were written for. Once I found I Can Read! books I was thrilled that they were clearly marked on the cover so you know your child is reading the appropriate level reading material at the appropriate time. Plus the levels build on each other. For instances, once your child has mastered the Yellow My First: Shared Reading book where parents can read aloud while sharing basic language and word repetition for emergent readers they will be able to smoothly transition to the Blue Level 1 Beginning Reading books. Level 1 Beginning Reading is designed for children who are eager to read on their own and the books have short sentences, familiar words and simple concepts. With a quick glance at the cover I had the confidence we were on the right path to setting up my daughter for reading success so she could progress smoothly without frustration.

I love how I Can Read! makes reading fun! They have over 400 titles to choose from, with at least 40 different iconic characters, and fun storylines to fit everyone’s interests. Looking for a classic character to share with your child? How about Danny the Dinosaur, Sammy the Seal, Amelia Bedelia or Berenstain Bears? Looking for modern characters? They have Batman, Pinkalicious, Pete the Cat and more! Plus, I Can Read! books feature relatable stories, full color illustrations on every page, and excellent authors that are sure to keep your child excited and engaged.

As I Can Read! celebrates their 60th anniversary this year they are also celebrating the many awards I Can Read! titles have received including: Newbery Honors, Caldecott Honors, Geisel Honor, New York Times Outstanding Children’s Books, Parenting Best Children’s Books, Parenting Reading Magic Awards, and many others. I love putting award winning books into my daughter’s hands. I Can Read! is also releasing special 60th Anniversary commemorative editions and each special book will contain never-been-seen- before illustrations, a foil cover, and eight pages of bonus material on the I Can Read! history.

If you have a beginning or emerging reader I believe I Can Read! books can help guide you and your child smoothly through the learning process. I Can Read! books are available at most major retailers including Amazon, Walmart and Target.
