Growing up is tough business especially for older toddlers. Transitioning from products designed for babies to products designed for adults can be frustrating for both child and parents. The most challenging area for my daughter was at the dinner table. She had grown out of her baby spoons, typical plastic toddler cutlery wasn't cutting it and adult versions were just too big. That is why I am a huge fan of NUK Kids new line of tableware and cups.

NUK Kids has a new line of tableware and cups that are specifically designed for children ages 3-8. Everything has been thoughtfully created with their "big kid" hands and abilities in mind and has the same durability you would expect from the NUK brand. For example, the NUK Kids Utensil Set that includes a fork, spoon and knife and is made uniquely for kids 3-8. The tops of the utensils are metal and the handles are a wider plastic design with indents to ensure proper placement of the fingers. The fork tines are sharper with the ability to spear food but not as sharp as an adult forks. The knife is a non-serrated blade, more like a butter knife, and cuts food with a gentle rocking motions. I love how the cutlery set has a big kid feel but is still safe for our children's smaller hands and budding abilities. The NUK Kids utensil set retails for $4.99.

The product I get the most use out of is the NUK kids spill-proof and leak-proof cups. When my daughter had grown out of her baby sippy cups but wasn't ready for adult beverage glasses, I found it challenging to find the perfect cup. I needed something that felt like it was for big kids but was still spill-proof. I put the NUK Kids cups to the test. I filled them with water and shook them, tipped them, threw them in my pocketbook for the day and there were no leaks! Plus, I was impressed by the choice of designs.

My favorite cup is the NUK Magic 360 Ultra Grip Cup. With the Magic 360 Cup you drink from the rim like a regular glass (there is no drinking spout). The first time I saw it I thought there was no way it could be leak-proof or spill-proof, BUT IT IS! Plus, the lid only has two parts and comes completely apart for washing, which I find very convenient. The NUK Magic 360 Cup retails for $7.99. The cup I use for on-the-go hydration is the NUK Kids Straw Ultra Grip Cups. The reason I use the Straw Ultra Grip Cups for traveling is they have a slider that covers the straw 100% to keep the drinking area clean no matter where it ends up. The Straw Ultra Grip Cups have the same NUK durability and are 100% leak and spill-proof. The 2 piece straw assembly comes apart completely for washing and has a finger loop for carrying. The NUK Straw Ultra Grip cup retails for $6.99.

A big kid's dinnerware set would not be complete without a plate and NUK Kids has made an awesome plate for picky eaters that is also eco-conscious. The NUK Kids plates are made from heavy and durable recycled FDA-approved post-consumer plastic. The plates have divided and deep sections that make it easy for scooping and are perfect for picky eaters. It also has a built-in condiment compartment in the center. My favorite feature of NUK's plates are they are both microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, which I think is an absolute must for dinnerware. The NUK Kids plates come in a two pack and retail for $4.99.

Overall my family enjoys NUK kids tableware and cups. We find them convenient, durable and carefully crafted for children ages 3-8. You can find NUK Kids products at Target, target.com, and at NUK-USA.com. NUK Kids products will also be available at Walmart in April of 2017.
