Our Trip to Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland

It’s been awhile since my daughter and I could spend quality time together, just her and I. So last weekend I decided we were going to do something special and head to Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland! Happy Hauntings is all the fun you would expect from Dutch Wonderland set to a fall theme.  There are beautiful fall decorations, fun rides and a trick-or-treat trail providing non-scary Halloween fun!

When you arrive at the park you will notice a giant spider climbing the Dutch Wonderland castle. There are large, beautiful Halloween wreaths lining the entrance.  As you walk through the park there are hay bales, mums, and pumpkins on display. The fall decor made the perfect backdrop for our pictures. Our favorite decoration was a pumpkin light show that was set to Halloween music!  It was an incredible display and my daughter and I watched the pumpkins glow to the beat of the music through several songs!

With 30+ rides open, Happy Hauntings is a lot of fun! The rides have been transformed into fall themes including Bat Swings, Frankenstein’s Fun Slide and the Halloween Hopper. My daughter’s favorites were the scare-go-round and Gargoyle’s Flight. My favorite was the Ghost Flight (monorail), I loved seeing an aerial view of the Halloween lights and park rides.

Happy Hauntings has also added loads of non-scary Halloween entertainment. We watched Merlin the Great’s silly and interactive musical magic show. It was a lot of fun and my daughter was amazed! Her favorite entertainment was the character meet and greets. She got to meet Duke, who was dressed in his Halloween costume, for a hug and photo opportunity.

A Halloween attraction wouldn’t be complete without trick-or-treating and Happy Hauntings does not disappoint!  They have transformed Exploration Island into a trick-or-treat trail! Children get to trick-or-treat with over 20 lifelike dinosaurs. It was a lot of fun and some of the dinos were wearing their costumes!

Overall, Happy Hauntings was exactly what I was looking for. It was a fun, interactive, fall attraction that I will remember for a lifetime. Happy Hauntings will definitely be on our families Fall Bucket List for years to come!
